V: The New Series

There was a time when I would have automatically balked at the idea of a modern remake of any former or well established TV show, like the soon to air V on ABC. But after the exceptional remake or revitalization of Battlestar Gallactica, I have tried to be a lot more open minded or to at least reserve passing judgement until after I have seen the updated series. Though some early reviews of the new V television series remake have been less than stellar to say the least, plus the original air date has been pushed back which is never a good sign. As I understand it, several re shoots took place and possibly some re-casting, though until the extras are released on the 1st season DVD we might not know for sure. I am personally hoping that it is at least watchable, since I have always enjoyed Science Fiction.

The overall theme for the updated V remake remains the same. Alien Visitors come to Earth pledging their friendship and cooperation, while secretly plotting Earth's ultimate destruction or it's enslavement...Actually in the original series the Visitors wanted to steal Earth's water supply and to consume most of mankind, so I assume these plot points will remain the same. Since the Visitors themselves are reptilian in nature and need to consume live food in large quantities. Plus it was kind of the whole point of the original mini series to begin with, that later became a full fledged TV series after being initially well received ( Though the series that ultimately fallowed was rather lack lustered).
